It is very trendy, durable and sassy. Used for kitchens and bathroom countertops all over the country and around the world, granite has established itself as a highly valuable solid surface material. Its wide appeal is generally due to the natural esthetics and resilience of the stone. As a result of these qualities, granite countertops have been used in Europe for centuries and now widely in the US and around the world. It is, to some extent, an impregnable stone although its absorbent quality is widely known. But this is not a problem as sealants abound that can put a stop to this. This will restrain chemicals or other potentially undesirable materials from seeping into the stone. These may cause discoloration and staining. Some even offer a limited life time warranty.
Granite is unlike any other solid surface for value, beauty and durability. Designed, colored and crafted by Mrs. Nature over millions of years, it is as unique and colorful as any individual. The magnificence and splendor only need to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Granite represents an even deeper and more essential value to any home. It is a beautiful reminder to humanity that nature is the greatest craftsman/woman.

Remodeling with stone

A lady from my local community in Naperville recently called me up to discuss her new kitchen. She had been considering upgrading her home since she has been unable to sell and wondered what she could do with stone. We had a very interesting conversation about the many different uses of stone and how it can really be a value addition to any home. She seemed very impressed with my diatribe and passion about stone and made some comments about getting her husband involved. It turns out that most people buy natural stone for all sorts of reasons. One of those is that you never have to replace it. The other is that it pays for itself especially in terms of enhancing the resale value of the home. But to answer the lady’s question, when you factor in the cost of changing your countertop over a period of time, it becomes quite clear that natural stone pays for itself in more ways than one. Not only do you not have to apologize for your choice of solid surface, you also will get many compliments from your neighbors and friends not to mention jealousy and secret admiration. Don’t forget that those buyers who have been longing to make your home their next home will jump at the knowledge. A home crafted in natural stone provides more than an aesthetically pleasing environment. It also provides solid value and the confidence of knowing that capitalism combines well with a sense for environmental preservation. These are not mutually exclusive. They are the American way to be rightly proud of. Does anyone have any further ideas about how to effectively use stone in a home remodeling project?
